Veil of the Quiet Fire – Original Watercolor Landscape, Blue Ridge Mountains

$965.54 AUD

October in Western North Carolina has a specific kind of fire to it — not loud, not sudden, but slow and inevitable. The birch trees go gray-white against it. The underbrush burns orange and gold underneath, like something smoldering just out of sight.

That tension is what I was painting here. Stillness on the surface, heat underneath. The hake brush keeps the edges soft so nothing quite resolves, the way the actual forest never quite resolves when you're standing inside it.

Original watercolor painting of autumn birch trees and fall foliage, Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina.
